Why Sober Living
Leaving treatment is an important accomplishment—but recovery does not end when treatment ends. Many men need a safe, structured, and supportive environment where they can continue building the skills and stability necessary for independent living.
That is why ANCHOR exists.
ANCHOR Sober Living provides the bridge between treatment and independence. We give men the opportunity to live in a safe, substance-free environment where they can strengthen their recovery, develop healthy routines, pursue meaningful employment, manage responsibilities, rebuild relationships, and prepare for life on their own.
Our goal is not to provide treatment, but to provide the structure, accountability, support, and stability that can help residents put their recovery into action in everyday life.

The Reality
Over 20 million Americans are in recovery from a substance use problem. In the latest federal data, 22.3 million adults reported that they consider themselves in recovery or recovered.
And Georgia is not immune. In 2023–2024, an estimated more than 1.5 million Georgians age 12 and older experienced a substance use disorder in the past year.
Employment
Employment is one of the first major steps toward independence. ANCHOR encourages residents to obtain and maintain meaningful employment, giving them an opportunity to earn income, develop a consistent routine, rebuild confidence, and take responsibility for their financial future.
Stability
Once a resident has employment and begins managing his responsibilities, the focus shifts toward creating personal and financial stability. This includes maintaining sobriety, managing money, paying bills, following a routine, developing healthy relationships, and making responsible decisions.
Independent Housing
The ultimate goal is for residents to transition from ANCHOR into safe, stable, independent housing. By this stage, the resident should have developed the employment, financial, recovery, and life-management skills needed to maintain his own home and continue moving forward.
