A Place to Begin Again ⚓

Sometimes changing a life doesn’t begin with a big speech, a program, or even a second chance. Sometimes it begins with something much simpler:

A safe place to begin again.

For a long time, that belief has stayed with me.

During the year I served as an Assistant Director with the Atlanta Mission, working at The Potter’s House, I had the opportunity to walk alongside hundreds of men who were fighting to rebuild their lives.

I saw men arrive carrying the weight of addiction, broken relationships, disappointment, shame, and uncertainty about what their future could look like.

But I also witnessed something powerful.

I watched men begin to change.

I watched them get sober.

I watched them get jobs.

I watched them rebuild relationships with their families.

I watched their confidence return.

I watched men who had lost hope begin to dream again.

And I watched them realize that the person they had been did not have to define the person they could become.

Those men left an impression on me that I will never forget.

Over time, that experience became more than a memory. It became a calling.

Last year, our family took a step of faith and purchased our first commercial building in South Georgia.

And now, we’re turning that building into something we believe can make a lasting difference.

ANCHOR Sober Living Center.

ANCHOR will be a safe, structured, and supportive home for men transitioning from treatment into independent living.

But we're not simply creating a place for men to live.

We're creating a place for men to rebuild.

A place where a man can wake up with purpose.

A place where he can learn discipline and responsibility.

A place where he can work, save, grow, and become accountable.

A place where he can continue his recovery while surrounded by men who understand the journey.

A place where he can begin repairing relationships and discovering who he is beyond addiction.

A place where he can start looking forward instead of constantly looking back.

Because getting sober is only the beginning.

Recovery is learning how to live again.

It's learning how to keep your word.

It's learning how to show up.

It's learning how to work hard.

It's learning how to handle responsibility.

It's learning how to forgive yourself.

It's learning how to rebuild trust.

It's learning how to love your family again.

It's discovering that you still have something to contribute.

And it's realizing that your past may explain where you've been, but it does not have to determine where you're going.

That is the heart behind ANCHOR.

Stability — a safe place to get your footing again.

Recovery — continuing the work of becoming healthy and whole.

Brotherhood — surrounding yourself with people who will encourage you and hold you accountable.

Discipline — developing the habits that create lasting change.

Purpose — discovering that your life still has meaning.

Independence — preparing for the day when you are ready to stand on your own.

The name ANCHOR is intentional.

An anchor doesn't keep a ship in the harbor forever.

It gives the ship stability until it's ready to move forward.

That's what we hope ANCHOR will be for these men.

Not a place to stay forever.A place to become strong enough to move forward.

Our hope is that a man who walks through the doors of ANCHOR will eventually walk back out with something he may have lost along the way:

Hope.

Hope for his future.

Hope for his family.

Hope for his recovery.

Hope for the man he can become.

We're just getting started, and we know this journey will take more than our family.

It will take a community.

It will take people willing to open doors.

Employers willing to give men a chance.

Churches willing to walk alongside them.

Mentors willing to invest their time.

Treatment providers willing to partner with us.

Families willing to believe in restoration.

And people who simply believe that a man's worst chapter doesn't have to be his last.

So today, I'm inviting you to join us on this journey.

If you work in recovery, treatment, mental health, workforce development, housing, ministry, or community outreach, I would love to connect.

If you're an employer willing to give men in recovery an opportunity, let's talk.

If you have experience, resources, ideas, or simply a heart for helping men rebuild their lives, we want you to be part of this.

And if you know a man who needs a place to begin again, we hope ANCHOR can eventually be that place.

We're believing that this building can become more than a building.

We believe it can become a place where lives change.

Where families are restored.

Where men discover purpose.

Where broken things begin to heal.

Where one man's decision to rebuild his life can change the trajectory of an entire family for generations.

This is why we're building ANCHOR.

This is the journey we're beginning.

And we'd love for you to be part of it.

ANCHOR Sober Living Center. A place to begin again.A place to rebuild.A place to find purpose.A place to become anchored in hope.

Join us.
